Happy New Year!

Okay, yeah, it's true - New Years Eve....  I'm here writing this blog post.  Yeah, yeah, I know. And now you know....I have no real life once the sun sets.

No, "she" won't let me out.  Claims it's safer inside or some other such nonsense.  Still even if I could go out on New Years Eve, I would still be here to wish you a new year filled with all the best of everything.

I would.

Really.

It's all possible under "post options".  Just set it to the correct time on New Years Eve.

But again, that's not the case.  I am here.  Pitiful. I know.  I don't suppose anyone brought me some warm milk to soak my pitiful whiskers in....just thought I'd ask.

Well then since no one is buying my pitifulness, maybe I could be productive with this time.  But I don't want to be toooo productive.  You know too much effort isn't good this late in the day.  Could ding a claw or bend a whisker you know.  Serious stuff.

But....some New Year's resolutions wouldn't be too bad or require much energy. Right???

Okay then, getting down to business....

Number One:   Loose some of that extra fluff.

Some of you have pointed out that I'm a bit fluffy around the middle.  Okay, point taken.  Not taken willingly, but taken none the less.

Today, as the Christmas tree was being down, it became an in-your-face-serious when I realized that I wasn't three and a half pounds anymore.

I mean you must know that I really wanted to be in that tree.

But if I had used the branches as steps like little Matilda demonstrated.....well let's just say the tree probably would not be looking very tree like next year.

But you know, I'm thinking about this and I realize I do not want to be three and a half pounds again.  I mean my paws probably weight that much.  Really.

Okay, maybe my paws AND my tail.  Three and a half pounds.  And if I only weighed three and half pounds I wouldn't be able to have the rest of me.  Doesn't make much sense does it? I mean where would all my food go? And don't go thinking I'm willing to give that up! Get real here okay???!

Mattie trying to eat the tree?!
She really is having way too much fun!
Hmmmm....scratch resolution number one.  Never mind.  Is wasn't realistic anyway. Really.

I mean who really wants to be able to climb the Christmas tree anyway???

I DO!!!! I wanna climb the Christmas tree!

Well heck!  What time is it?

Oh good, not quite midnight.  Gotta go.  The resolution project was over rated and exhausting.

Moving on to plan B..... I have a date with some catnip.  That will put it all in perspective.  Yep, by tomorrow morning I will have forgotten about this silly resolution stuff.  Good possibility, the only thing I'll be thinking about is how to get rid of the catnip hangover....

....that and hoping three and a half pound Mattie becomes too plump to get into the tree again next year.....

What about you?  Any new year's resolutions?

Really?

Sure you don't want me to share some of my catnip with you?

Romeo do not worry about some extra fluff! What do they know any how! (this is Charlie by the way) I also have some extra 'fur' and find it much more charming then a little 3 pound bit of nothing. I don't climb trees anymore either but laying underneath them with kitty treats, catnip and a new toy is just fine with me. Happy New Year!

Romeo- I have always liked a bit of extra fluff on someone/anyone/everyone. I think it makes them more sensitive...happier...more laid back...lazy...er...scratch the lazy...relaxed is more like it.

Resolutions? Is that like Revolutions? In that case..I am too old and tired to want to revolt anymore.

Hugs- Romeo...I have loved meeting you-you are one hip cat...and ps...I am alone here tonight with 3 grandkids while MyHero has long ago crawled into bed...and it is only 10pm. yeah..you and me..Romeo..some night life! xxoo Diana

That's O.K. Romeo, you don't need to loose that fluff, you're still a gorgeous, handsome cat. I'm staying in, too, 1 degree above 0 here in Wyoming tonight. You'd freeze your fuzz off outside. Happy New Year to you, "her" and the others in your household. Diane

Pass the catnip this way, please. Sounds like a lovely way to spend New Year's eve and Day!

Climbing an indoor tree a few days a year may be fun, but enjoying tasty treats the whole year sounds like a much better plan.

We are all staying in cuz the old year seemed to melt away this year and left a huge puddle.

We don't want you to melt away and leave a puddle.

Happy New Year to you, "her", MAtilda and all those you hold dear.

Romeo,
Stay just like you are, a fat and sassy cool cat!

I thank you... Purrr! for kneading me with your paws I did have a little tension in my neck, ooooh! your whiskers are ticklish.

Have you not enough trees to climb out doors that you have to climb in her beautiful white tree??

I have put mine away! knowing you may be back soon and feared that you may get stuck way up with the birds and I may have to call the fire department to hook and ladder you out of it :)

Romeo, Shhhhhish...I have a little secret for you, can you keep it? I am sending her a little gift in the mail it went off the other day so keep a watch out for the postman :)
I am sure she will want to display it, or hang it in next years tree, or off her armoir, or a hook of sorts. There are so many places in your home that it will look great!
I made it and I am sure you will love it. Romeo you were my inspiration for creating it.

Thats all the hints you will get out of me, oh one more thing nothing about it is new...altered art to love.

Be good to her, I will see you soon :)

Happy new year!
xoxo
Dore
PS....
I am in the mood to watch "Gay Purree" a movie with my favorite cats, oh how I just love her voice (Judy Garland) Off to Paris!

Romeo, fat cats are fine. I do not let Clovis out at nite because we have a great horned owl inour yard that wants to attack him. I would totally let you play in a C-mas tree!

Happy New Year Romeo! By the way a little extra fluff is totally necessary to keep you soft and squishy. Raphael, my cat loves it cause I am fluffy and he likes to get on my lap and knead my squishiness so fluff is not to be underated! You stay the way you are we all love you the way you are! Raphael does not go out either cause we live in the woods and we have owls and coyotes and fisher cats - no that is not a type of cat - mean ornery things they are! So, may your new year be filled with things to jump on and chase, treats anytime you want and catnip at all the right moments - you know, just to lift the spirits!
We love you Romeo! Happy New Year from Raphael and me (Raphael's mom - Beth).

Silly cat. As we get older we are to embrace ourselves, not try and get rid of ourselves...As for climbing trees, well, I must admit I can't really relate, but perhaps there is something else to climb that would make you feel young again?
Hope you had a fabulous New Year's, I was drooling on the couch by 10:30.....
