Going to a party!

Debbie at Confessions of a Plate Addict is having a birthday linky party for Baby Kitty who is EIGHT today!!!

Having never been to a purrday party before, I thought I might sneak out - you know kind of a sanity break from you know who.....ssssshhhhhh, I think I hear Baby Kitty coming to the door now.....

Happy Purrday Baby Kitty!!

I hope you are enjoying YOUR purrty (aka party)- nothing better than a good purrty with lots of snacks and furriends!!! I hope I'm not late. Had a bit of an issue with the first present I was going to bring you.

Little vole called me "dog breath"!

Sorry, I lost control. I ate him. No worries for you though - now I have the indigestion. And your new gift won't give you any smart remarks or stomach upset. Nope! Not a one because this time I brought you....

CATNIP!

And I brought plenty to share!!! Enjoy, but remember to use some moderation or you'll regret it tomorrow morning. Not that I would know...I'm just saying.....moderation. There's a reason.

Oh oh, here come's your Mom.....

Hi Ms. Debbie-Baby-Kitty-Mom! I'm doing fine, thank you for asking....

What's that ma'am?

You want to see my permission slip from "her"? Um....sorry, I left it at home. But I promise, I'm a good cat, I won't cause you any problems.

I'm really a very good guy - "she" tells me that all the time. Recently, "she" started calling me "sugar lips". I know, I know, kind of embarrassing but it gets me extra treats, so I'll just play along.

The only time "she" doesn't seem to get me is when I swat "her" on the ankles. I'm not discriminating though - Grammie, Dad and even Grandad are all targets. No discrimination here! Only "she" seems to understand that I'm making a point best as I can - "hello?!! I am low on attention and love..." But only when I'm outside because there isn't anyone else out here but me, so I should be the center of attention, oui? No worries though, I'll behave while I'm here. We are having the party inside...right??

No, no ma'am I won't dig in the potted plants in the living room. I prefer the great outdoors, normally in the flower beds with the nicest plants. Roses are good, but gardenia bushes, those are my favorites. Anyway, thank you for your concern, but I already went before I came over.

A snack? Did you offer moi a snack?!?! Why yes, merci beaucoup.

The trip here in this heat left me famished. And since I don't get much food at home. No, being the kind soul I am, I send the food I don't eat on my plate to the starving cats in China. Yes, ma'am I do.

Well actually "she" does.

I think.

I mean "she" tells me to eat everything on my plate and to be grateful, there are cats starving in China. So if it's something I don't like, I don't eat it and I'm guessing that's what "she" does with it. I mean how could "she" not, it was "her" suggestion afterall. Me, well I'm just more than willing to help out others....could I have another one of those catnip cupcakes please????

Thank mew Ms. Debbie! Oh oh...sorry to eat and run but I think Baby Kitty needs some help over there in the living room. I think the one of guest dogs are looking to get into trouble....

Well, I do believe that purrhaps it's time to mingle! I see lots of furriendly faces I know....Charlie, Kramer...wow, this is going to be FUN! Thanks for inviting me Baby Kitty! I hope this is your bestest purrday yet!!

Hey, I saw that....get your paws outta that cake, it's not time for that yet! Manners! Sheesh! C'mon let's go visit everyone.....

A purrfect Halloween adventure awaits!

Come along now with me

And do not be afraid

Never minding the shadows of things that seem to be

Stay close and hold my paw

You’ve my promise -  I’ll protect you

With my ferocious nature and of course my claws.

We're off on an adventure

One of neither close-near nor forever-far...

Either neither way yet,

Time seems to pass so quickly

I see it in your brow – the worries and the fret.

With each later as the hour grows.

I know you cannot hear the trees

For the distance, it too has grown.

Walk with me now carefully, be of sure foot and paw,

through the dirt, dead flowers and old mossy stone.

You look a little pale

despite the golden fading light

so just a small suggestion if I might….

Keep you eyes looking straight ahead –

It’s truly better that way – you won’t think you see the dead.

I saw your imagination,

a child at the last stone.

It ran away from you and with it, left you dread.

For you thought you saw stranger things

than those in your home, thoughts safely tucked into your bed

Hush, no need to tell about them,

yes I’m sure some have big ears and wings

but I think it’s time I tell you….sadly, no one else these or those they see.

I think you're getting tired

and your eyes they play on you tricks.

I know it seems like days, on this path we go

but trust me, it’s really not so.

Yes, it is a very long and crooked little path,

set in the forest deep.

But see we arrived in less than one day’s time

Look up and see - the moon is still here and has not left to go sleep.

Come along still, our trip is not done

while we still seek the witch,

and though I do not see her, it does not mean there is n'vr one

For my catish-observation skills they serve me well

I am certain and tell to predict she didn’t go far.

Certainly she is still near.

For look past the door ajar

on a night like this even she would have taken a coat.

But there it still waits in the corner – take note.

Purrhaps, her familiar, Sir Black, is still here to attend.

On him for most matters, he too, you can depend.

Oh my whiskers, I failed and forgot

to tell you why we came this far,

How could I not?!?!

Mr brofur, poor Crickett,

he has a need for snacks,  it all started when he was but a wee lad

and somewhere along the way...his middle began to sag.

And now the poor guy, the extra weight has made his legs shorter,

and his lower belly is starting to drag.

It’s something of a dust ruffle, yes I do suppose,

so look about and tell me if you see

any cures or spells to undo poor Crickett’s deeds.

Certainly he’s not the first and with this ailment of sorts

and so therefore mustn't there be a potion, a spell or purrhaps a charm

that can help my little buddy without doing him any harm

Oh look see, here comes Sir Black

with the secret Crickett-sag-drag-spell in his black paw pack.

Always so insightful, he knew before we arrived,

just what magic he did need

and strived

and succeeded

to completed

one drag-sag-dustruffle-reversal spell potion

to cause the dragging belly to disappear and be depleted!

A hundred thank you’s kind Sir Black for your assistance and expertise!

I’ll be back again soon

When I can stay for more than a bit.

And we’ll laugh and dance as happy little cats well into the wee hours of the moon

But tonight there is not time

For my friend – her bedtime draws very near

so here we are to leave

From the path whence we came.

To take a path, but not an exactly back path,

No need to visit something that might be waiting for our return

Back over and under there

Just common precautions, not at all applied scientific math.

I know for sure you are tired, I see it in your eyes

And though it seems a long way home,

We’ll be there faster than most time flies

You’ll have no explaining to do

of hours and days spirited away.

You see there are no worries,

only four minutes did we spend.

Not a second more did we lose.

And there now is my dear friend Crickett, waiting for my return!

Now some magic working I must do,

so run away quick,  and let your mind wander free.

For more magic and fun still awaits you

over there with Vanessa and her Matty – a rare and kind dogaroo!

A special thanks to both of them, for hosting a purrfectly enchanting Halloween Event! And to you, for taking the time to stop by for an adventure! I hope you’ll stop by again – I so love adventures!

Where "She" Creates....

Stuff.  Whatcha-ma-call-its.  Whirlys. Thingys. Fluffs. And Rusters!

Sometimes “she” creates things so beautiful you could fall in love and marry them.  And other things….well, in one word, “eek”.  No matter what “she” creates in the studio, one thing is certain, it’s also a purrfect place for creating a purrfect nap!

    `
It might be on top of a work station (shown above), in her chair or even on top of soft old fabric.  It’s all fair game!  Although there are some things you’d probably want to stay away from when choosing a nap location.  Flower frogs being one of them – there is a small collection in one of her workbench cubbies.  “She” claims they are great for displaying notes and layouts.  That’s fine and I will take “her” word on this, but don’t look for me to be laying out on any of them.

Ever taken a nap inside a drawer or shelf?  Me neither.  Here in the studio, there are lots of those for storage,  but when you are competing with the ever expanding collection of supplies (aka furball collectors), well it’s just pretty obvious finding space to park my furry tail isn’t going to happen.  I mean take a look will you???

On the upside though, a properly placed midnight furball may escape notice amongst all that stuff.  Which means that the perpetrator may never be caught ;)  It’s really a fun and challenging game – so far “she” hasn’t caught anyone in the act.  Doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened.  Just means no one has seen us do it.

Oops, sorry got off topic about the glories of having a studio – I mean “her” studio. “She” has the studio, we just visit and leave cat fur on everything.  But it’s “her” studio really.  I mean c’mon – someone’s gotta vacuum out here.  So we tell “her” it belongs to “her” and then “she” takes care of the cleaning.  Anyway….where was I.....

“Her” studio, yes.  There are old colanders of lace trims and stacks of heavy linen hand loomed fabric.

Rusty parts and pieces for collage and assemblage.

What else is out here?  Of course, markers, graphite pencils, colored pencils, inks, pigma pens, acrylics, watercolours and brushes, and papers of all materials and sizes!

Old people pictures.  Hundreds of pictures of old.  Er….people who would be old if they were alive.  But they are probably dead by now.  Well not all of them, some weren't that old.  The pictures I mean.  Well and some of the people weren't that old.  In the pictures. Anyway, “she” has pictures of them. When they were alive.

And enough books and magazines to supply a herd of cats with litterbox tissue rolls for years.  Here’s Tessa keeping guard – it’s an important stash I tell you. I'm training her to look ferocious like me.  How am I doing??? I think she's trying to copy the Clint Eastwood glint in her eye....ferocious!

If I sold these books and magazines I could start up a fish farm and live like a king I tell you! But then there would be no litterbox tissue for my old age when my little chops become delicate.  So the magazine and book collection will stay.

“She’s” kinda partial to it anyway.  “She” has some very old books like late 1700’s, early 1800’s that have the softest linen paper…..(yes, I will use these first)……and the illustrations, oh my whiskers!  They simply don’t print books like that anymore!!!  The depth of ink and print…..”she” loves the look of the old book pages! And old papers and documents!!!!

And how about the old stuff?!?  Oh my my my!  Vignettes everywhere!  “Her” step-son recently said that it reminds him of art installations.  Purrsonally, I think he was hoping for a second piece of blackberry cobbler.  No matter.  Whatever you want to call it they are everywhere.  “She” rearranges them pretty frequently (that’s when the giant killer dust bunnies come out to play) and tells me they provide a constant source of inspiration.  No, not the killer dust bunnies, the vignettes.

There is a cat's moon in the studio - it is her latest creation and it covers the attic vent purrfectly!  “Her” room used to be a sun porch in a previous life and before that just a deck.  Hence the attic vent.  This should help with keeping those hot attic heat waves from entering the studio.

Of course with huge windows on three sides of this room, it can still get pretty toasty out here.  Thank goodness for the window AC unit!  I can lay on her worktable and let my whiskers blow in the breeze and check out the views in comfort.  It’s even better if she’s got the table covered up with something "she's" working on - I feel it's important to contribute cat fur to everything created here.  Cat fur means it passed my quality standards inspection! It's an important job, but I'm up for it!

Ah, well look there!  I see an empty space on the work table and it's calling my name ....time for a nap!  Thank you so much for stopping by, I really do appurrciate it!  If you have a moment, please leave me a comment.  That way if I was napping, I will still know you stopped by!

And of course, if you enjoyed your visit, I'd love to have you as a furriend! Purrhaps you'd consider signing up as a follower so that you could come along on all my adventures!

Many thanks to Karen for hosting this event - you've made it all possible!
